None Like Him: 10 Ways God is Different From Us(and why that's a good thing) is written by Jen Wilkin. It's 163 pages. God is self-existent, self-sufficient, eternal, immutable, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, sovereign, infinite, and incomprehensible. We're not. And that's a good thing. Our limitations are by design. We were never meant to be God. But at the root of every sin is our rebellious desire to possess attributes that belong to God alone. Calling us to embrace our limits as a means of glorifying God's limitless power, Jen Wilkin invites us to celebrate the freedom that comes when we rest in letting God be God.
I really like the color of the cover and the beautiful flowers on it. It's simplistic, yet very pretty. There are 10 Chapters that discuss the 10 ways God is different from us. They are: Infinite, Incomprehensible, Self-Existent, Self-Sufficient, Eternal, Immutable, Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Sovereign. The beginning of each chapter starts with a quote someone wrote about that characteristic. Each chapter ends with verses for meditation, questions for reflection, and a prayer prompt.
I've enjoyed reading this book and being reminded of just who God is. The chapter that spoke to me the most is, "Eternal." It talks about how since God is not bound by time, his actions happen at just the right time. When I want something, it's hard to remember that, but something I do need to think about. It also talks about trusting God with our time by letting go of the past and the future, and living today fully. I spend a lot of time wishing I could go back and do things differently, and also longing for a different future. I need to just learn to trust God more and not feel sad about the past or worry about the future.
